The best live events don’t happen by accident. Behind every seamless arrival, perfectly timed cue, secure movement, and flawless stage transition is a team of professionals whose work often goes unnoticed—but whose impact is impossible to miss.
This past Saturday, Event Strategies, Inc. was proud to collaborate with our production partners and other industry veterans to host The Art of Advance and Production, a day dedicated to sharing knowledge, developing talent, and strengthening the future of our industry.
The event brought together experienced professionals from across the worlds of advance, event production, logistics, audio, lighting, and government operations to provide attendees with practical, real-world insights into what it takes to execute complex events at the highest level.

Throughout the day, participants explored the many disciplines that make successful events possible. Sessions covered the fundamentals of event advance, production logistics, lighting and audio best practices, executive branch advance operations, and lessons learned from years spent managing some of the country’s most visible and demanding events. Beyond technical instruction, attendees heard firsthand stories about adapting under pressure, solving problems in real time, and the importance of preparation long before guests ever arrive.
One of the day’s central themes was the evolving role of live events as a communications platform.

As ESI Founder Tim Unes shared during his remarks:
“Today, live events have become one of the most powerful communications platforms available to any campaign. Every person who walks through the doors carries a smartphone capable of producing broadcast-quality video. Every attendee has a social network. Every attendee has the ability to photograph, livestream, comment, and instantly share their experience with hundreds—or even thousands—of other people.
In other words, every attendee has become a broadcaster. And every one of these broadcasters’ endorsements is trusted far more, among their network, than anything else the media or campaign can generate. That reality fundamentally changes the way we think about advance.”
That perspective reflects how our industry continues to evolve. Advance is no longer focused solely on logistics and security—it is about shaping the experience from the moment an attendee arrives to the moment they share it with the world. Every detail matters because every detail has the potential to become part of the story.

At ESI, we believe one of the best ways to strengthen our industry is to invest in the people entering it. Sharing knowledge, mentoring emerging professionals, and creating opportunities to learn from experienced practitioners helps ensure the next generation is equipped to deliver events with the same level of precision, professionalism, and creativity that today’s clients expect.
We’re grateful to everyone who joined us, shared their expertise, and helped make The Art of Advance and Production a success. Events like these remind us that while technology and communications continue to evolve, the foundation of exceptional event production remains the same: thoughtful planning, strong partnerships, and people who are passionate about doing the work well.
We look forward to continuing the conversation—and helping develop the next generation of advance and production professionals.
